Look what I got last night!
I had pre-ordered at the right time and gotten the only console bundle at the store for launch. Also by pre-ordering at a little chain called “G2K Games”, instead of GameStop, I was the 3rd person in line out of maybe 15 people.
I’m normally an Amazon shopper for games, but I had credit at the local store and like to support smaller businesses who don’t rip you off on game trade-ins.
I hung-out with my friend at the GameStop in the mall for a while before leaving to get my pre-order. We had hoped there’d be some event made of it like back in the day, but it was just a bunch of nerds sitting on the store floor until midnight and it got a bit crowded. The Halo 2 EB Games launch I went to in Tucson AZ (Nov 9 2004: my last midnight launch) was actually an outdoor event with hotdogs, a raffle, and a projector setup with Halo 1 multiplayer.
On the down side, I’m at work today. If money was no object I would have taken the day off to sleep-in and play Halo Reach. I just hope the work day goes by quickly.

Amazon's New Trade-In Program vs. GameStop
[from whattheyplay.com]
Looks like I might try this next time I want to trade a game… Amazon is very competitive with GameStop and I’ve been buying on Amazon more than GameStop lately.
