iPhone App: Colors!

I posted about Brushes before and am a big fan of the app, but I’m always open to alternatives and finding the best app for the job.

I haven’t put any time into testing Colors! yet but it seems well established with a large user-base. There is also a version of Colors for Nintendo DS homebrew.

One advantage of colors may be it’s ability to export larger resolutions: “Export your saved paintings in different resolutions (320x440, 640x880 and 1280x1760)” a feature I’d love to see in Brushes if well executed. I’d love to know what the quality of the 1280x1760 images looks like.

The one other Colors! feature that stands out is that you can see the size of the brush as you are painting so you can be more precise. Colors also has an online gallery community where users can comment and rate paintings.

I’ll report back once I’ve done some testing. Colors is $4.99 for the full version, or you can download the free Lite version that doesn’t save or export your paintings.

UPDATE: After some testing of Colors! I have decided I prefer Brushes by quite a bit. Colors! Lite is great though if you don’t want to invest any money into Brushes because you can still take a screen capture to save your paintings (hold down the “hold button” and press the “home button” the screen will flash and the image will be added to your Photos app).

A drawing I did on my iPod Touch with the coolest iPhone app I’ve ever seen or used; NetSketch. Besides the app being totally awesome, their website allows you to upload and share your drawings with a free profile. Here’s my profile. On top of that; when you view drawings on the site the drawing process is animated from start to finish!
