This blog isn’t dead
Sorry for the lack of posting lately… I’ve been distracted by work and my personal life (and video games I got for Xmas).
I’ve also been working on my site redesign that I’ve been talking about for ages. I’m getting close to being happy with the new design and have gotten my head wrapped around how Squarespace works.
I do also want to try creating a new digital painting to feature on the new website; if I can become inspired and my schedule permits.
Squarespace is not as flexible as hand coding a site layout, but does support custom CSS on top of theirĀ WYSIWYG editor so I can bend it to do almost anything I want. As a web designer the limitations were a little off-putting at first, but once you understand what’s going-on it’s not hard to get around them. The few limitations are worth it in the long run because I don’t need to worry about maintaining a CMS or practically having to recreate and hand code all my content for each new layout in the future.
I plan to use the Squarespace blog for the more “official” blog posts relevant to my design work and art. This Tumblr will continue to be used for fun little posts; interesting links, videos, and pictures. I’ll also import the Squarespace RSS so readers of this blog will be notified of new posts. Nothing much will change as far as my content and posting here.
I may also switch to a default Tumblr layout that I don’t have to keep updated for new features. I’ll wait and see what’s the least hassle when I’m ready to roll-out the new site.
