My $720 Gaming PC Complete Components List
This is my first PC due to being a die-hard Mac user (and still am). I’m an equally die-hard gamer, so it makes sense for me to finally build a gaming rig. I’ve already been doing some PC gaming on my MacBook Pro with Boot Camp (that won me over).
All my PC parts are set to arrive tomorrow. I shopped around for the best deals from Amazon, NewEgg, and Tiger Direct. This time Amazon and Tiger Direct won out on price, shipping, and no sales tax in my state. I also ordered just in time to catch a few deals before they sold-out.
I went with the high-end of budget gaming PC parts… I could have trimmed a few corners to keep the cost down a bit if I were on a tighter budget.
Ordered from Amazon:
- Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0 GHz 6M L2 (CPU) $167.99
- Logitech 967740-0403 (Keyboard) $17.98
Ordered from Tiger Direct:
- Gigabyte EP43-UD3L Intel P43 Socket 775 Motherboard $79.99 (Amazon Link)
- BFG GeForce GTX 275 OC2 896MB PCIe w/Dual Link DVI $219.99 (after rebate)
- Corsair XMS PC6400 DDR2 800MHz (2x2048MB) $44.99 (after rebate) (Amazon Link)
- HITACHI 1TB SERIAL ATA HD 7200/16MB/SATA-3G $79.99 (Amazon Link)
- Samsung 22X DVDRW SATA OEM $29.99
All said and done, it costed me about $640 for the above parts. If you add the case, powersupply, and soundcard I bought off my friend; it comes to about $720. I think I did well, under $1000 for a formidable gaming rig isn’t bad.
Stuff I already own:
- Harman Kardon SoundSticks II
- Logitech G5 (mouse)
- Antec Nine Hundred (Case)
- Power Supply
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS- Dell 24” LCD Display
- Windows 7 RC (until next June)
