Hello. I'm Nathaniel Daught, (25) a graphic designer, artist, Mac geek, and gamer. These are my ramblings, photos, links, and art because I sometimes have too much time on my hands... One would assume that you also have too much time on your hands because you are reading this blog. Enjoy.

stevenla replied to my last post about my iTunes 10 replacement icon saying:
Jonas’s iTunes Speaker forever. http://jonasraskdesign.com/iconarchive/iconarchive.html
I must agree, this has been a long time favorite of mine also. It also comes in several colors!

My choice of replacement icon for iTunes 10: The Iconfactory’s Flurry iTunes icon.
As a graphic designer I was immediately disgusted by the new iTunes 10 icon/logo. It looks like a kid’s first attempt at making an aqua icon in Photoshop. I don’t mind the simple round icon concept, but it’s poorly executed and uninspired.
What’s your choice of iTunes icon replacement?

Mirrors Edge finally out for iPhone (iTunes link $6.49) - iPad owners have had this game for a while.
I hated the console/PC Mirrors Edge game because it didn’t flow as well as it was advertised and it had lots of frustrating parts. The 2D game actually looks far more entertaining while keeping the very cool mood of the console game.

Xbox Live price increase for features we don’t even want

Here’s part of their email informing subscribers of the price increase:
“This holiday, Xbox LIVE is adding new Gold features, including ESPN and Video Kinect, with Hulu Plus coming on Xbox LIVE in 2011.”
“Besides launching the new features and titles, we will also be increasing the price of Gold membership on November 1, 2010.”

I already don’t use their crappy Twitter, Facebook, and Last.fm implementations. I HATE ESPN, don’t have any plans to buy a Kinect, and won’t ever subscribe for Hulu Plus on top of Xbox Live and Netflix. Microsoft is bankrolling their stupid new features by forcing a price increase on every Xbox Live subscriber! Why not make all the jocks who actually care pay for ESPN instead?
The worst part is that we’ll just take it because of games like Halo Reach that are totally awesome online and aren’t available on any other platform…
I’ve gladly been paying for Xbox Live since it launched day 1 on the original Xbox, why not offer some sort of customer loyalty program?! But no, that’d be too pro-consumer.
This is the kind of dick move that will make people think twice about owning an Xbox now or in the future. If this kind of thing becomes a trend, I doubt I’ll be as loyal as I have in the past.

Arcade Fire: The Wilderness Downtown
A crazy HTML5 interactive music video powered by Google. I’d expect it’s also best viewed with Google Chrome.

Trying to resist buying this motorcycle jacket from JackThreads. It’s a $136 jacket marked down to $39.99. I want it but I don’t really need it so I’m trying to hold-out until it’s sold-out.
UPDATE: I failed, and ordered it.

Another new Halo Reach live action trailer: “Deliver Hope”
I bet their marketing budget is huge for this game.
